The City Bowl is neatly situated between the bustling harbour of the V&A Waterfront and mountains that are littered with historical neighbourhoods such as the Bo-Kaap, Oranjezicht and Tamboerskloof. As the oldest town in the Western Cape, the City Bowl offers age-old attractions that will captivate you, whether you’re on foot or enjoying the view from above.
When enjoying any of our scenic flights, be sure to look out for South Africa’s oldest building, the Castle of Good Hope – its pentagonal structure looks magnificent from above and its sheer size will leave you awe-struck. Another point of interest to try and spot is Greenmarket Square; a popular attraction of the city centre, its cobbled streets will probably not be visible as the area will be covered with the colourful rooftops of the kiosk-style vendors that populate the crowded space. While you’re enjoying the view, scan the slopes of Table Mountain for Rhodes Memorial, a curious and shrine-like feature of the landscape that boasts a multitude of Grecian-style columns and a bevy of lion sculptures.
