Shark Cage Diving

An exhilarating way to get your heart pumping! A close encounter with these awe-inspiring predators is an absolute must to make your Cape Town experience an unforgettable one. The Great White Shark has made the Gansbaai waters its home for millions of years. They are frequently spotted within the Gansbaai bay, and if you’re lucky, you might even see this enormous animal breaching. It truly is a formidable sight! Whether you’re looking to tick it off your bucket list, or just want to challenge your fears, nothing compares to this thrilling adventure.

Shark Cage diving is the safest method to get up close and personal with Great White Sharks, and they are generally very curious, social and intelligent animals.

It offers unobstructed views of the creatures which will be mere centimetres away from the cage. NAC Helicopters offers direct transfers to the Gansbaai area, which will not only save you time, but will enrich your Gansbaai adventure by flying over some of the most beautiful scenery that South Africa has to offer. The general routing to Gansbaai takes you past the exquisite wineries of the Helderberg Mountains, through the rugged terrain of the Overberg Mountains and along the sandy beaches of Hermanus.

Hermanus Whale Watching

Every year, Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales visit the Cape Coastline to mate, calve and nurture their young in our secluded warm waters, migrating all the way from Antarctica through the months of June to November. These gentle giants can be seen mere metres from the shore line, and exhibit awe-inspiring behaviour such as breaching (where they launch themselves completely out of the water), and lob tailing (whereby they slap their tails on the water as a means of communication).

The Cape Whale Route stretches for approximately 900 km, starting from the West Coast at Doringsbaai right up to Storms River Mouth along the Garden Route. However, one doesn’t need to travel that far in order to see these beautiful creatures frolic. The coastal town of Hermanus is known as the “Whale Nursery School” of South Africa, and provides unsurpassed whale watching views, as they frequent the old harbour to calve. There are a number of companies that offer boat-based whale watching, and are allowed to get within 300 metres of these oceanic giants.

Let NAC Helicopters transport you in style to the Hermanus area to get your whale-watching experience off to an exhilarating start. Alternatively, we also offer a scenic whale-spotting flight along the False Bay coast to view these incredible mammals of the deep like you have never seen them before!

African Safari

Your South African trip would not be complete without seeing the majestic wildlife that roams the African grasslands. Although Kruger National Park is the most sought-after safari destination, Cape Town has a number of lodges and game reserves that offer Big 5 game viewing in malaria free areas. Cape Town reserves also offer a unique aspect of past South African culture, namely the Khoisan Tribes that lived in the mountainous areas. Their traditional rock paintings can be seen throughout the Cape, and each painting depicts a different story from up to one thousand years ago!

Cape Town is also renowned for its Fynbos, which forms part of the six recognised plant kingdoms in the world. It is both the smallest and richest Floral Kingdom, with 7 700 different species covering a relatively small area. Be sure to spot South Africa’s national flower, the King Protea, as well as numerous small animals that live within the Fynbos regions such as Chacma Babboons and tiny Klipspringers.

Each safari destination offers different activities to suit your needs. Whether you are looking for something to entertain the whole family, or for a romantic honeymoon getaway, contact the reserve of your choice and NAC Helicopters can transport you there to start your safari holiday on a high note.
