Visit the Southernmost tip of Africa – a meeting place of two oceans and great wines.
Stretching away from the Indian Ocean at the tip of Africa, the Overberg offers a wealth of adventure and experiences, such as wine tasting in the rolling hills.
Explore The Overberg

The Overberg offers beaches and secluded coves sprawling for kilometres along the coast, from Cape Town to the southernmost point of Africa where two oceans meet. Twenty-five towns of varying sizes make up this eclectic stretch, from the small hamlets of Elim and Kassiesbaai to the quaint villages of Stanford and Gansbaai, to larger towns such as Hermanus. The Overberg is a diverse and historical region with vast countrysides to explore, glorious wines to taste and endless activities to experience during your visit.

Creation Wine Farm

Welcome to a little piece of paradise in South Africa’s sought-after Walker Bay Wine Region. Here, high up on the scenic Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, every dawn brings an exciting new challenge and innovation is a way of life. This trendsetting spirit has shaped Creation Wines’ vision and led to many a thrilling achievement as reflected in their impressive list of wine awards.

De Hoop

Few other reserves offer as complete an outdoor experience as De Hoop – sea, sand dunes, the vlei, a floral sensation of rare fynbos plants, diverse antelope and the Potberg Mountains. Birders observe wading birds on the shores of the vlei while the Potberg Mountains are home to a colony of endangered Cape vultures. Hikers and cyclists have close-up encounters with bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland, baboons and ostrich. Activities are diverse and guests choose between various day walks through the rich fynbos plains or along the deserted coastline, or mountain biking along the many gravel roads or scenic game drives. Lazing on the beach and snorkelling in the many turquoise rock pools is simply another way to pass a rewarding day.

It was in 1991 that the Lutzeyer family first set eyes on a small farm on the fynbos slopes overlooking Walker Bay – and they couldn’t believe the beauty they saw. In 1994 Michael sold his business interests in Cape Town and decided to develop a bed and breakfast on the site for local visitors, not knowing that soon he would be attracting visitors from across the globe. Since then, through a combination of hard work, enthusiasm, vision and strong family cooperation, the Lutzeyers have turned the reserve into a world leader in progressive luxury tourism, transforming the lives of community members and preserving 2500 hectares of botanical and wildlife treasures.
